Wales Perfumery has been part of Barnes Fragrance Fair since 2024, and the 2026 edition, held on Saturday 16th May, turned out to be the most memorable yet. Louise Smith arrived with the full collection, a spot on the fair’s brand new Scented Walk installation, and a secret she hadn’t told anyone.
Barnes Fragrance Fair is the UK’s first and only independent fragrance fair, and this year the organisers described it on their website as “an absolute joy”, suggesting it might have been their best yet. Now in its fourth year, the fair was bigger than ever, with over 40 independent UK brands spread across two halls.
The Wales Perfumery stand showcased the full collection: the NATUR range, The Celts Collection, the five-fragrance olfactive journey through the ancient Celtic world, and, for the very first time anywhere, the Storii Perfume Layering collection.

Storii is Wales Perfumery’s new perfume layering library: three handcrafted fragrances, each one a Chapter, designed to be worn alone or layered together to build something entirely personal. Chapter One is vanilla, mallow and tonka: soft, warm, a real skin scent. Chapter Two is rose, peony and pink pepper: dreamy and romantic. Chapter Three is fig, coconut and cedar: creamy, golden and unhurried. Nobody outside the studio knew it was coming.
“Launching Storii in person today at Barnes Fragrance Fair,” Louise posted on Instagram that afternoon. “If you are here, come and find me. I would love you to smell these in person. I have a super limited number of each chapter with me.”
The response was immediate. The stand was mobbed throughout the day. Chapter Two drew particular praise. “The response to Rose – Chapter Two – was incredible,” Louise wrote afterwards. “Hearing compliments on the scent from perfumers, journalists, and customers meant so much to me as a perfumer.” One attendee even made it their mission to be Storii’s very first customer, commenting afterwards that they were proud to have that distinction.

The Celts collection also attracted serious attention from the fragrance press. Writer Amie Elizabeth White, reviewing Barnes Fragrance Fair 2026 for her Substack, described Cornovii as having a distinct oily fruitiness, with olive fruit absolute and bergamot evoking waxy rinds and preserved lemons. She described Celt as gently honeyed, with mead and earthy hops at its heart and a soft, comforting depth from the textile accord. Of Iverni, she wrote that it was a scent that makes you realise how artistic and powerful perfumery can be.
Among the familiar faces at the stand was fragrance reviewer and Fragrance Foundation UK content creator Scott McGlashan, known to his 14.5K Instagram followers as @blublazerguy. Scott is no stranger to Wales Perfumery, having previously visited Louise at the studio for a workshop, so Barnes made for a welcome reunion as well as a chance to introduce him to Storii for the first time.

Elsewhere at the fair, Louise was invited to feature Parfum Celt in something rather special. This year Barnes introduced a Scented Walk between its two venues. A charming immersive installation designed and created by Edge Retail and The Aroma Company, where visitors could sample a selection of fragrances from perfumers at the fair as they made their way across Barnes Green. Parfum Celt was one of the featured scents, a fitting choice for a fragrance rooted in the deep, earthy landscapes of the ancient Celtic world.

Wales Perfumery holds a distinctive place in the UK fragrance landscape as Wales’ first fine fragrance house, built on a deep respect for the craft and a commitment to doing things differently. Days like Barnes Fragrance Fair are a reminder of why that matters. A room full of people discovering these scents for the first time, meeting the perfumer who made them, and in some cases going home with a collection they hadn’t known existed when they woke up that morning.
